The 8th Annual Japan Film Festival (JFFLA) will kick start with Pre-Event Admission Free in Little Tokyo, Los Angeles on April 7, 2012 followed by the opening Gala Event with Premiere Screening of Life Back Then on April 13, 2012.

While focused mostly on films from Japan, we wanted to highlight a couple of Asian American films. First, the world premiere of Subprime Children, produced and directed by T.J. Yoshizaki. Subprime Children is a film based on the recent economy meltdown which involves groups of people who played a part in this greedy society. The film stars David Hill, Jerry Ying, Michelle Laurent, Jeff Manabat, Brian Metran, Lance Masa and many more.

Another film we wanted to highlight is Saki the Killer staring Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part 2’s Masami Kosaka, TJ Kayama, Lance Masa, Hidetoshi Imura and Sachiko Kokubu as Saki. Directed by Chisako Yokoyama, the film revolves around Saki waging a war against the Yakusa Gangsters who killed her grandfather and destroyed her life.

The JFFLA will be held at the New Beverly Cinema in Hollywood on April 14th and April 15th, and in Starplex Cinema 5 in Irvine on April 21st and April 22nd. For complete information about the Japan Film Festival, films, screenings and to purchase tickets, visit their website: JFF
